Daily Challenge #2
#2 Fitness Goals - Beat May km, eat smarter, train well and move more. #liveitfitnesschallenge
Today was a busy day. My fitbit & I hit 10,000 steaps before 6:00, without me going for a run.
Kiddo & I did some gardening, went to the dollar store & home depot for supplies, then gardened some more. For me, it was back breaking work. At least it wasn't hot. I ripped out all my irises, as there were too many. Then I attempted to replant 8 - they are going to need supports until they resettle in. We rested, then went to the mall. My legs and feet were so sore. I rested more, then did some housework, convinced Squirt to do some clean up of his toys too.
I need a window box, more flowers, and more dirt. If Shane will dig up a plot in the back, I know where my surplus of irises is going! No one seems to want the extras.

A New day, A New Month, A New Challenge
Today my exercise was walking to pick up my kid, and walking through the garden centre. I think I had about 6000 steps or so. It was a low energy day, with little sleep last night. Then some other stuff happened that left me feeling very rung out.
My food today (in no particular order) - chicken noodle & vegetable soup, thin crust pizza, banana, coconut oil, 2 cookies, a multivitamin, 2 wild cherry pepsi's, some kettle cooked chips & skinny pop. So maybe 35% was desireable food?
I hope to get back on the band wagon tomorrow, ideally with a run and a fix video. I'm so f@#king tired at this moment. Here's my first challenge
#1 My Fitness Story
Since May 2007, I’ve been a runner. I’ve never been fast, but I have run over 120 races, and have instructed various clinics at the Running Room. I’ve done ballroom dancing, hula dancing, and a bit of line dancing. In 2013 & 2016, I dabbled in triathlons, (10 try-a-tri’s). I’m training for a couple of tri’s right now, and am signing up for the upcoming session of ballroom class. My preferred beachbody program is 21 day fix, but I’ve never completed all 21 days in a row. I also have PiYo, which I haven’t tried yet.I have been trying to get back on the bandwagon by pressing play, but I have chronically low energy, due to sleep issues and myotonic dystrophy, (which I wish I didn’t know I have, cause it got in my head and screwed me up a bit). Pressing play on top of the running sometimes seems like too much. I want to restart the fix, so I can get some weight training in, because I have only used the gym 4 (?) times. and kinda dislike it, and my membership is almost done. If I’m going to work out solo, I may as well do it for free at home.My worst problems are my struggle with food and sleep issues. Somewhere along the way, I developed an almost daily “chips and pop” habit that I can’t seem to shake. Since I don’t always eat properly to begin with, the pounds have piled on. I’m not comfortable with my size, and feel kinda blobby. I think my running has slowed and become more of a struggle due to the “extra Kerry” that has accumulated.I want to feel strong again, and would also like to fit into old beloved clothes of a smaller time in my life.

Day 10: Clusterfuck? Or general fail?
Sins
-awake at night, sleep all day (was energized)
-three packs of mini chips ahoy cookies
-chocolate milk to quench fire from ESM leftovers
-sloth & self-pity & sadness kinda day (after woke from my sleep at 5:00 pm-ish)
Redemption
-apple
-lots of water
-peanut butter spoonfuls, spread out through the day
-1/2 purple of raspberries
Neutral
-leftovers from Scaddabush had no repercussions so far
-tried to eat spicy ESM leftovers and even added plain bowties & stirred = still too hot and Shane agreed
-half deluxe mini pizza
A canker sore appeared on my top lip sometime while I was awake last night - didn't notice it until morning. Ouch!
Also, am tired & ready for bed.

Day 9: Revenge of Scaddabush.
Okay, it's really not fair to blame the restaurant. I swear I'll have to go there sometime & try the exact same meal again, when my overall diet has been better in general.
But it's easier to blame the mojito & buttery garlic bread for what I endured this afternoon. I will spare you the gory details of my near death. ;) (cue melodramatic music here)
I didn't have a decent breakfast in any way, shape, or form. Zesty doritos in a small bowl with water.
Late lunch was an apple, a 6 saltines (as my tummy was still feeling craptacular after it's drama), and a few malteasers.
Dinner was italian wedding soup, a coke, and some firecracker bowties with chicken (not shrimp) at my clinic's celebration dinner at ESM. It was really hot, so I barely ate any. I also had 1-2 pieces of bread with butter to quench the fire.
I came home & a couple of hours later ate: a very small bit of the rest of the veggie fried rice, half a mini deluxe pillsbury pizza, some chips, water & a glass of pink lemonade.
Exercise: was minimal. Partly due to sore muscles (which are much better than yesterday), and partly due to tummy. Even drove to J's school for pickup due to lack of trust in tummy.
I am actually writing this at 3:33 Am on Wednesday, and am currently experiencing heart burn. Yuck!
Back on track tomorrow. Please get me back on track.

Day 8: Did not go great.
I was up in the night. I ate two bowls of veggie fried rice.
I ate some chips. May or may not have had a coke?
I had some other junk I think in the day.
I had a nutrigrain bar and/or a granola bar - definitely had the granola bar, not sure about the other.
I had some water.
Had dinner out with Yvonne. We got the same meal - the small Pesto Pollo Fettuccine (chicken, spinach, tomatoes & basil pesto cream sauce) and shared a classico charity bread with lots of garlic butter. I also had a mojito. It was such a delicious meal, and I have enough leftovers of the fettuccine.
May have eaten when I came home later. Chips? Something else? It was only yesterday night, but who knows?
Exercise: as little as possible, due to sore legs (quads especially).

Day 7: Race Day #2
Ate about 1/2 a piece of pizza before the race.
Had two gels during the race.
Had chocolate milk immediately after the race.
Had 2 half pieces of pizza & chips & can of wild cherry pepsi about 1 to 1 1/2 or so hours after the race.
Had chinese food at home. Chicken Lo Mein, Veggie Fried Rice, Shanghai Noodles and One Chicken Ball. With can of Sprite.
Exercise = ran 21.1 km in 3:24:18

Day 6: Race Day #1
I ate pasta with butter & salt for breakfast, my own custom blend of mixed noodles; sundried tomato spaghettini, spinach fettuccine, multigrain spaghetti & regular spaghetti.
Lunch was late, eaten after the race (approx. 8:30) at Mc Donalds. Shared a 10 pc nugget meal & fries with Shane. Drank Coke.
Dinner was a multigrain crust pizza with bacon, mushrooms & pineapple. Ate 2 smaller pieces and had an apple.
Exercise was arguing with Jeremy about whether he was or was not doing the race, and walking for 1 hour, 12 minutes & 5 seconds.

Day 5: Another Disaster
Ate a nutrigrain bar before leaving to pick up the race kits.
Brought my salad out with me, did not eat it. Was in a rush to get to hospital to visit, and grabbed a small bowl of chips & wild cherry pepsi instead.
The 3 pre-bedtime prunes I ate last night had their revenge.
Ate lunch too late that it kinda became dinner.
It was fish & chips with lots of malt vinegar & some salt.
Not much exercise. Tried to pay more attention to my fitbit, and took my hourly steps a couple of times.

We should all be shameless.
This was written by my coach, Julie, in our FB group. I thought it would be a useful exercise for us. You can post in comments, start a new blog post or just write it out for yourself in a journal
I believe that no one should feel shame. You make a mistake, it’s ok, own it, accept it, apologize and move on. Is eating the wrong foods, skipping a workout, or making a mistake worthy of shaming yourself, no it’s not, it’s never ok. I hope you all believe this.
Today I want you to think about how Shame makes you feel? What has it done to you, what has it done to those you love? Write it done and then bless and release.
You’re worthy of the very best. This includes the best food, the best self-care and the best self-talk.
If writing it down is too difficult today, I encourage you to start a new page in your journal ....
Write 1 positive thing about yourself, this group something that makes you smile everyday for the next week then return to this exercise next Tuesday xoI'm going to think about this for a bit before I answer.

Starting again!
Tomorrow is the start of a new round of 21 Day fix in my Team Beachbody Coach's group, Summer Strong. Julie always invites me in. She included me in the group that started on April 3rd, which is now basically over, and since I was doing different stuff, I never joined in group discussions.
I do want to do the videos and the healthy eating, but exercise is "easier". The food is my struggle, and the boxes only seem to work for portion control for me. So I think doing my own thing is best.
I used to track everything I ate, so I'm going to go back to calorie counting. I hope to use the principle of 80/20 rule. 80% awesomely healthy, 20% other. If I can get it to 90/10%, even better.
Here's the link to my original post about healthiness & weight loss this year.
